GAC-5 Series cartridges effectively reduce unwanted tastes, odor and chlorine taste & odor from your drinking water.* They are designed to allow maximum contact between the water and carbon, ensuring maximum adsorption.

The construction of the cartridge allows water to enter at one end and pass through the entire length of the carbon bed before exiting the other end of the cartridge, while an internal expansion pad minimizes channeling or bypass. Before the water exits the cartridge, a 20- micron post filter helps reduce carbon fines and other suspended particles from the filtered water.

The post-filter is permanently fastened to an innovative support basket ensuring that it is firmly secured and eliminating any potential for bypass.

  • Effective bad taste & odor and chlorine taste & odor reduction*
  • Designed for maximum adsorption
  • Post-filter to reduce carbon fines
  • Available in a variety of sizes and flow rates

I have used the "big blue" GAC water filters by Pentek for many years. Several years ago I discovered that I could purchase these filters from HomePlus Products and have found them to be reliable and prompt in filling the orders. - Ron A

We had been experiencing a strong odor from our well water that smelled like oil. Tests showed no contamination so we tried various filters and the Pentek GAC-20BB proved to be the one that worked. No smell now and many neighbours have had the same success. Very good product! - Daniel O

Pentek GAC-5 Customer Questions & Answers

Question:How long do I run the water after changing the filter?
Answer(s):

After you change a carbon filter, you should generally run water for about 5 minutes after it is installed. All carbon filters contain some "fines." These are basically tiny pieces of fine carbon that will be flushed out of the filter when it is first put into service. This is why the first little bit of water that comes out of a new carbon filter often looks grey or even black. These are usually flushed away in the first 30 seconds or so, but running a bit longer will ensure they are all flushed out before you start using your filter.

Question:What is the difference between cbc-10 filters and cfbc-10 filters?
Answer(s):

The CFBC series uses a proprietary technology to place a powdered activated carbon into a cellulose-free synthetic fiber material, whereas the CBC Series is a traditional carbon block. The advantage of the proprietary design of the CFBC series is that it will offer less pressure loss (better flow rate performance) and longer life.
