Description & Benefits
The UltraPlus+™ UP-12 Ultrafiltration (UF) System is the very best in fine filtration for residential and light commercial water treatment. It is designed for the removal of very fine sediment, turbidity, colloids, cysts (cryptosporidium and giardia), and other physical particles down to 0.02 microns (absolute). It can also be applied to treat certain organics and tannins and can form an effective barrier as part of a multi-barrier approach for bacteria and viruses.
UltraPlus+™ is particularly effective at removing fine clays and "rock flour" found in some shale rock wells and glacial streams. These ultra-fine sediments often cannot be captured by conventional filtration methods.
Ultrafiltration is also is an excellent choice for homeowners looking for the very finest filtration possible for their water.
- Removal of very fine sediment, turbidity, suspended colloids, cysts (cryptosporidium and giardia), and other physical particles down to 0.02 microns absolute
- Peak service flow rate of up to 12 GPM (10 GPM continuous flow) - higher flow than the competition!
- Provides full treatment and protection during power outages
- Easy to install and maintain
- Automated daily back flush with treated water backwash system
- Very low water waste - membrane back flush uses only about 10 gallons per day
- Large LCD touch-screen display
- Built-in water meter collects a wide range of data on water consumption to help you manage your water use (current flow rate, peak flow rate, flow totalizer, last backwash, daily usage for last 4 weeks, usage since last backwash, and more)
- Built-in water leak detection system and alarm
- Vacation mode to save water while you are away from your home
- Longer membrane life
The UltraPlus+™ system uses a unique bundle of 4 hollow-fiber ultrafiltration modules with a massive surface area of 194 square feet - more than 4 times the surface area of its largest competitor. The membrane modules contain more than 5 miles of hollow fibers. Unlike many other membrane technologies, UltraPlus+™ operates under normal line pressure and has a very low water waste ratio. The outside-to-inside water treatment path provides high service flow rates of up to 12 GPM, low pressure drop, reduced risk of deep membrane clogging, and simple membrane cleaning.
The UltraPlus+™ is packed with technology, featuring an advanced LCD touch-screen controller which manages the system's automatic membrane cleaning process and collects data about water consumption to help you manage your water use.
Ideal for the treatment of city water, well water, and surface water (lakes, streams, springs, and rivers).
- filtration to 0.02 microns absolute
- removes fine sediment, clay, rock flour, turbidity & colloids
- provides an additional barrier of protection against microbiological contaminants such as cysts like cryptosporidium and giardia, as well as bacteria and viruses
- no technology offers real-time filtration to a finer level than UF
- better flow rates and longer membrane life than the competition
Common Applications
- Surface and ground water treatment to remove sediment, turbidity, colloids, and other particulate
- Organics and tannin removal (since the molecular weights of tannin molecules vary widely, contact us for pilot testing)
- Rainwater catchment treatment and gray water recycling
- RO Pre-filter
- Part of a multi-barrier approach for the treatment of bacteria, viruses, and cysts including cryptosporidium and giardia
- High-end residential filtration
How UltraPlus+™ Works
UltraPlus+ is a sophisticated water treatment system, not just an ultrafiltration membrane. The system consists of:
Ultrafiltration (UF) Membrane
The UF membrane is the heart of the UltraPlus™ system. The microscopic pores in the membrane allow water to pass through while rejecting fine sediments, colloidal matter, many organic compounds, and most waterborne pathogens down to a level of 0.02 microns. This is more than 100 times smaller than typical whole house water filters!
Not all UF membranes are created equally. The UltraPlus+™ system uses a unique bundle of 4 hollow-fiber ultrafiltration modules with a massive surface area of 194 square feet - more than 4 times the surface area of its largest competitor. The membrane modules contain more than 5 miles of hollow fibers. The outside-to-inside water treatment path provides higher service flow rates (up to 12 GPM), less pressure drop, reduced risk of deep membrane clogging, and longer membrane life, as compared to the competition. Unlike many other membrane technologies, UltraPlus+™ operates under normal line pressure and has a very low water waste ratio. Our NSF 61-validated UF membranes are made in France and integrated into a unique membrane vessel in the U.S.A.
State-of-the-Art Control Valve w/ Bypass
We match our industry-leading membrane technology with one of the industry's most advanced control valves (Made in the U.S.A.). Our state-of-the-art digital control valve features a large color LCD touch screen display, sophisticated membrane cleaning control functions, built-in water leak detections system, and water flow rate and volume data collection to help you track your water consumption.
Backflush and Forward Flush Self-Cleaning System
We have developed a fully-automated self-cleaning backflush and forward flushing system to maintain flow performance and protect and extend the life of the UF membrane. On a pre-set interval determined by our Certified Water Technicians, usually once per day, the UltraPlus+™ system will perform a backflush using pre-treated water. This process uses only about 10 gallons of water, making it extremely water efficient. Contaminants are flushed from the membrane and sent down the drain, thereby restoring membrane capacity and protecting the membrane from premature clogging. Following the backflush process, a vigorous, but short forward flush cycle is undertaken to eject larger contaminants that may have collected in the membrane vessel. Treated water to be used for the back flush is stored in a small pressure tank which is typically supplied with the system. You may opt to use your own pressure tank - minimum capacity of about 30 gallons (10 gallon draw down). We use a brand-name Wellmate WM-9 pressure tank. Where multiple systems are plumbed in parallel to achieve higher flow rates, the supply of treated water for the flush cycle can be provided by the other unit(s) so a back flush pressure tank is not required.
Quick Installation Kit
With all systems, we provide a quick installation kit featuring brand-name quick-connect style fittings and PEX tubing for a fast and professional-looking installation of all parts.

Note: This product is not certified or recommended as a stand-alone microbiological purifier and should not be applied as a disinfection solution for microbiologically unsafe water without additional treatment. If microbiological protection is a treatment objective, we recommend that a dual barrier disinfection approach involving the UltraPlus+ UF System and ultraviolet (UV) disinfection and/or chlorination be applied for enhanced protection. A Pressure Decay Test (PDT) is required after installation if microbiological performance is desired.
