Carbon block filter5 Stars
We're now using this in the Viqua UV system to filter our well water, so now we drink it right out of the tap instead of putting it through a Brita filter first. Just changed it after 6 months use, works fine. - Gary Fuhrman
the final filter5 Stars
For two years now we've been using this carbon block filter as the second ot the two filters in our Viqua system. I change it once a year, the cheaper sediment filter three times a year. Works just fine to make our shallow well water (just collected ground water) safe and good-tasting. - Gary F.

Viqua C2-02PB Customer Questions & Answers

Question:How many times a year should I change this filter?
Answer(s):

There isn't really a set time frame for changing this filter as it depends on water usage and your contaminant levels. If you're using it for lead it's good for about 11,000 gallons. If you're using it for chlorine it's good for about 48,000 gallons, but we'd typically just recommend changing it when you start to notice the chlorine smell coming back. Lead reduction capacity: 11,000 gal @ 5 gpm (40,000 L @ 19 lpm) Chlorine reduction capacity: 48,000 gal @ 4 gpm (182,000 L @ 15 lpm)

Question:How long do I run the water after changing the filter?
Answer(s):

After you change a carbon filter, you should generally run water for about 5 minutes after it is installed. All carbon filters contain some "fines." These are basically tiny pieces of fine carbon that will be flushed out of the filter when it is first put into service. This is why the first little bit of water that comes out of a new carbon filter often looks grey or even black. These are usually flushed away in the first 30 seconds or so, but running a bit longer will ensure they are all flushed out before you start using your filter.

Question:What is the difference between cbc-10 filters and cfbc-10 filters?
Answer(s):

The CFBC series uses a proprietary technology to place a powdered activated carbon into a cellulose-free synthetic fiber material, whereas the CBC Series is a traditional carbon block. The advantage of the proprietary design of the CFBC series is that it will offer less pressure loss (better flow rate performance) and longer life.
